プロジェリア
普段あまりテレビ（特に夜は）観ないのですが、今日はどうしても観たい番組がフジテレビの「サイエンスミステリー」で放送されました。その感想を簡単に紹介させていただきます。
皆さんは「プロジェリア」と言う言葉を聞いたことはありますか？
プロジェリア(Hutchinson-Gilford症候群)、とは、普通の人間の10倍もの速さで老化していく「早期老化症」という病気のことです。800万人に一人の割合で生まれる、この病の患者は、現在世界に30人程しかいません。
特徴として、低身長、禿頭、骨形成不全などの老人様変化。
6〜12月齢頃に発症し、平均12〜13歳、最高でも30歳程度で死亡します。原因は、受胎時に精子もしくは卵子にDNAの螺旋構造をほどく際に使われる、「DNAヘリカーゼ」と言う酵素が異常をきたした為に起こる遺伝子の突然変異と考えられています。
ちなみに、日本の患者数に関する公式のデータはありませんが、過去に数例の症例報告があります。治療法は、いまだ解明されていません。
「プロジェリア」という過酷な宿命を背負いながら、今という瞬間を前向きに生きる母子の様子を追ったドキュメントが今回の番組です。
主人公である少女アシュリーの13歳とは思えない、しっかりとした生き方が映像から伝わってきます。命の尊さ、生きることの意味を改めて考えさせられました。
彼女の発言には重みがあります。
多くの人々が何気なく送っている時間が彼女にとっては何もかも１０倍のスピードなのです。

相撲が好きである。物心がついたころに、最強の横綱・千代の富士を投げる安芸乃島を見て以来、ずっと安芸乃島のファンであった。
